Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Gaskarl's egg hatched after having been placed beside the nest of a brooding goose, and the goose patiently raised him along with her own goslings. Because of this, Gaskarl grew to love and be fiercely protective of geese. A natural leader and ferocious fighter, he quickly silences other dragons who would question his predilection. With the help of Abby, he gathered together and leads his own "flock" of dragons, called the Goslanders, and together they form a formidable defense against the hungry dragons that come to feed on the huge flocks of migrating birds.
