Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arya is rather wary of humans. Everyone she had met so far with the exception of her mistress, Purpletail, has tried to kill her for her brilliantly glimmering golden scales. Her beauty has captured many male dragons in the Clan but Arya has proven rather difficult to charm. Arya dislikes most dragons as she believes most look at her and wish to be her or hoard her scales. All this has given her a rather negative outlook on life. She can be extremely territorial and defensive if threatened. She gets along fairly well with other gold dragons, some of whom can relate to her feelings. Only two males have ever gained favor with this Gold Dragon: NightHunter, who often brings her tasty meats and rare gems that suit her tastes and FloatingWayfarer who just simply amuses her with his carefree nature and way of making her laugh.
