Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Vanxen is a cheery little fellow, and make no mistake. He tries to make Christmas nice for everyone, he really does. Being only small can be a bit of a hindrance, he feels, but he does what he can to brighten the place up. If it's whispered behind hands that he tries, perhaps, a little too hard, it does nothing to dampen his spirit, and he loves being able to cheer people up once a year. Sure enough, every year, come Christmas, the land around him will be decorated with cheerful little bits of tinsel, and sparkly stars, and grinning snowmen. It's suspected by his older brother Plixen that he steals these various decorations, but after all, it's the spirit of the thing that counts, right
