Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. This hatchling seems to be filled with a fell, inner flame.

And look! Its wings have grown, and it’s become bigger, more aggressive, and much hotter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Despite her species, Devil never finished growing because she was so late to hatch from her egg. Rescued from near death, she is incredibly attached to her handler, and follows them everywhere, often climbing onto their shoulder. For all she's more pleasantly behaved than her wild brethren, she is still temperamental and protective, both of hatchlings and her handler.
