Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Guard of the Eggs never really understood why she was frozen, but she passes it off. Ever since she was frozen, she had little to do, and few of the other frozen hatchlings would play with her. She found the silence of the eggs oddly comforting to her, and thus was dubbed "Guard of the Eggs." She protects the eggs from the other dragons in Dangershy's lair unless Dangershy has himself given explicit permission to another dragon to venture near the eggs. Even then, she is rather discomforted by seeing other dragons near the eggs. She tends to work jointly with Blue Glass Hatchiguard to keep the young of Dangershy's cave in check. Her proper name is Lyia, but everyone has long since forgotten. Even she herself had forgotten, being so used to being called "Guard of the Eggs" or "Guard."
