Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Aureus Perfectus is the head of the Metal clan where he rules mostly over other metals and prizes. His mate is Vittigera Astrata, a black Striped dragon. Aureus has been trying to have a Gold dragon daughter for years upon years and he has finally succeeded. All of his other children are white Stripe dragons. He used to be close like a brother with Elatus Argenteus, a Silver dragon he was raised along with, but they had a fight after Aureus changed his appearance and personality. Aureus lost his "brother" due to his desire to rule. The fact that Elatus was starting to have feelings for Vittigera didn't help a bit. Maybe Aureus feels sorry for losing his temper all those years ago but there has been only animosity between him and Elatus since then. Now he is even conspiring with Memor Intellegens, the leader of the Sect of the Seven. Aureus wants to take hold of everything his brother has and to take away everything Elatus holds dear. That much is certain.
