Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Vermilie loved to talk; no matter the subject she always had something to say. Until one particularly grouchy Magi decided that enough was enough. Days upon days were spent perfecting the curse that would silence Vermilie forever. But something went wrong, and instead of loosing her voice entirely, she was limited to exactly 1,000 words before the spell took hold. Each word pained her, now feeling like a knife cutting through her crimson scales. To avoid the agony that speaking now brought, she began to carry scrolls of thick paper and chunks of charcoal so that she could cast out her thoughts without talking. The Magi's curse hurt Vermilie more than intended; every word written in her hapless scrawl is a reminder of what was so violently taken from her.
