Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

EK, as she is often called, loves her name, though she just recently began to get used to it. Her original name was Red Hot Kryptonite. EK's owner named her this as a hatchling, but when she grew up and turned into a mature hatchling and her owner found out that EK was a girl, she changed the name to Esther Kryptonite. EK didn't mind, since she thinks that Esther is a very pretty first name.

EK usually spends her time spitting fire. She's done it so often that whenever one of her cave mates wants a piece of food cooked to a certain level, they bring it to EK to scorch, since she controls her flames so well. If she's not blowing fire in normal places to flame, she's watching over her owner's hatchlings. Whenever the name Hellfire Wyvern is mentioned to her, she pretends not to recognize the name. She absolutely despises the title her ancestors were given. Even if her long-dead relatives shot fire from hell, she often insists that she does not. She uses her flames for good at all times.
