Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Prancer is a very interesting young hatchling. Being a Yule and a Chrsitmas dragon, he's a rather valued and much loved little hatchling, but he doesn't let that go to his head. Prancer is the son of Yule Eden, and actually is the twin brother of Blixem Yule, who is on the scroll of LightningRip (his owner)'s dear friend ZephyrDrake. Prancer was given as a Chrsitmas gift in December 2010 and along with the other two Christmas-dragon hatchies, a Snow Angel and a Ribbon Dancer, approached Light after they had grown wings. "Freeze us so we can forever bound through snow and spread holiday cheer as hatchlings!" they said. And so she did.
