Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pinbi is a calm, placid dragon. While he is rather lazy, he does enjoy the occasional race with other dragons, and is considered one of the fastest dragons around the lake where he makes his home. Pinbi is usually modest when it comes to his achievements, but he has few to speak of in the first place. Being a Shimmer-scale, he loves attention and enjoys others looking on him with reverence and awe, but is jealous of Gold Shimmer-scales, wishing that his silver scales were a bright, shiny gold instead of gleaming silver.

Pinbi has a secret crush on the Gold Tinsel Queen Laurel Leaves. Despite her arrogant attitude, he admires her sparkling scales and high-class breed. However, Laurel is currently quite happy with her current mates, Vlad and Fear, so Pinbi wallows in sorrow with his friend Sun on the Hills, who is in love with him. All of Pinbi and Sunny's friends think that the Shimmer-scale and the Sunsong Amphiptere would make a great couple, but Pinbi has yet to realize it.
